About the town of Chania
Chania is one of Crete's most picturesque towns, located on the island's northwest coast. Formerly known as Chania, it is one of the region's most popular tourist destinations. Its beauty lies in the perfect fusion of its historic past and modern Mediterranean atmosphere.
The town is characterized by a magnificent Venetian harbor, which remains a vestige of Chania's colonial past. The port is one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, with its colorful old buildings and iconic lighthouse.
Chania's old quarter, around the port, is a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets lined with Ottoman and Venetian houses, as well as small stores, cafés and restaurants where visitors can enjoy local dishes such as goat stew (stifado) or fresh seafood.
Chania is also home to several historical and cultural sites, such as the Archaeological Museum of Chania, the Maritime Museum and the ruins of the Venetian fortress.
The covered market is also a must, where you can buy local products such as olive oil, cheeses and spices.
Just a few kilometers from the town, you'll find magnificent beaches such as Balos, Elafonissi and Falassarna, renowned for their fine sand and crystal-clear waters. The area is also a gateway to the White Mountains, ideal for hiking.
All in all, Chania is a town where history and natural beauty meet, offering an authentic experience of Crete with its unique atmosphere, breathtaking scenery and rich cultural heritage.
Coasteering by the sea offers a unique experience, combining adventure and natural beauty. Climbing, jumping and ziplining are the perfect complement to this activity, making every outing unforgettable.
